Drawing Course - Beginners to Intermediate

Learn the fundamentals of drawing in this 13-week evening course, designed for beginners and intermediate students in the heart of historic Amsterdam Through a combination of art theory, practical exercises, drawing from life, and individual guidance, you’ll build a strong foundation in drawing while developing your own artistic interests and visual style. The course combines traditional Renaissance drawing methods with contemporary approaches to observation, experimentation, and artistic expression. Course Details: 13 weeks: 12 in-person classes + 1 online portfolio session Day: Wednesdays Time: 19:30–21:30 Location: Art Studio Amsterdam – Centre Level: Beginners to Intermediate Format: Small-group, in-person classes Start: 9 September 2026 Trial class: 2 September 2026 Price: €350 incl. VAT What You’ll Learn You’ll progress through three stages: 1. Fundamentals Explore line, form, perspective, light, and observation. 2. Drawing from Life Develop your observational skills through still life, composition, light, texture, and three-dimensional form. 3. Personal Focus Explore subjects that interest you, such as portraiture, anatomy, landscape, urban drawing, anime, fashion, comics, or cartoon. Throughout the course, you’ll receive individual feedback, weekly assignments, learning resources, and practical guidance to help you develop both your technique and your personal artistic direction. Portfolio Guidance The final online session is dedicated to your drawing portfolio. You’ll receive individual guidance on selecting, organising, and presenting your work. Everything Included You don’t need to bring your own materials. We provide professional drawing materials, easels, drawing boards, pencils, erasers, textured paper, tools, aprons, and gloves, as well as free PDF books and learning resources. You’ll also receive access to online make-up classes if you miss a session. About the Studio Art Studio Amsterdam - Centre is located in a beautiful historic building in the heart of Amsterdam, featuring high ceilings, large windows, and traditional Amsterdamse School architectural details. About Your Teacher Seçil Güven is an international artist and educator based in Amsterdam. She holds a BFA from MU Istanbul and has developed her drawing education programme through teaching and artistic practice in London, Amsterdam, and Istanbul. Her approach combines classical drawing principles with contemporary artistic thinking, encouraging students to develop not only technical skills but also their own way of observing, experimenting, and expressing ideas.
